The Beginning of a Dream and Reality: A Soldier’s Solo Bike Riding Journey
The Beginning of a Dream and the Struggle with Reality
Hello
Everyone!Welcome to my blog, 'Traveling With Fouji'. By profession, I am a soldier serving our nation, and by passion, I am a solo motorcycle rider. Amidst the strict discipline of military life and the demanding duty of guarding our nation's borders, whenever I get the chance, I put on my helmet and set out on two wheels. The accelerator of my bike and the open air of the highway give me a profound sense of absolute freedom.
In this blog, I will primarily share the thrilling experiences of my solo bike rides, stories from the treacherous mountainous terrains of Northeast India, and offbeat travel guides through the eyes of a soldier. I hope to have all of you by my side on this new mission. I will be coming very soon with the story of my first riding adventure. Keep an eye on the diary of 'The Riding Soldier'! 🏍️
The Best Mission of My Life: A Soldier, His Better Half, and a Two-Wheeled Dream 🪖🏍️
Before stepping into this new world of blogging today, I want to share some true stories from my life that, until now, were confined only to the pages of my diary and the depths of my heart. Today, I will share with you how an ordinary boy from a lower-middle-class family transformed into 'The Riding Soldier.'
The Beginning of a Dream and the Struggle with Reality
Since childhood, my eyes were full of dreams—to lose myself under the open sky and travel across the country and the world. But reality is harsh. Being the child of a lower-middle-class family, where making ends meet was a daily struggle, the desire to travel was nothing short of a luxury. Due to a lack of financial means, those colorful childhood dreams sat gathering dust in a quiet corner of my mind.
Things changed in the year 2007. A glorious chapter of my life began—I joined the army. Although my heart swelled with pride at the opportunity to serve the motherland, my family's financial hardships and struggles had not completely faded. As a result, there was no room to think about my own hobbies. In the midst of all this, after working hard and saving through many difficulties, I bought my first motorcycle, a 'Glamour', in 2010. Even though I felt the touch of two wheels, my dreams ground to a halt yet again before they could truly spread their wings, surrendered to the harsh realities of life.
Married Life and the Shackles of Responsibility
In 2012, I entered married life, and in 2013, the greatest treasure of my universe came into my world—my beloved son. While spending my days and nights ensuring a beautiful future for my child and carrying the burden of my family's past debts, I had almost forgotten about my own dreams. Bound by the shackles of responsibility, the traveler inside my soul seemed to be counting down the days in a long, endless wait.
The Rebirth of a Dream and the Real Strength Behind Me
Finally, after a long wait, I shed all my hesitations one day and bared my heart about that old dream to my wife. Right at that moment, something miraculous happened in my life. While I was holding myself back due to the burden of household debts and worries about the future, my wife practically forced me to buy the bike of my dreams in 2019—a Royal Enfield Classic 350 Signals!
Today, I can say with my head held high that if anyone has encouraged my stalled dream to fly freely in the sky the most, it is none other than my soulmate, my wife.
Days of Leave and the Sacrifice of a Soldier's Wife
You all know what the life of a soldier or a military member looks like. Most of the year has to be spent guarding the country's borders. The leave available to spend time with family is incredibly brief. Whenever I go home for just a few days, my heart wants to spend every single second with my family. Yet, my wife understands the restless rider inside my soul even better than I do.
Holding my hand with ultimate affection, she tells me—"Go, take a trip. Take your bike, which is your absolute meditation and knowledge, and go breathe freely for a few days." How immense a sacrifice it is for a wife to permit and encourage her husband to travel far away during such short vacations is something that cannot be expressed in words. Her selfless love is what gives me the strength to push forward into the open air of the highway.
Today, I have a soldier's cap on my head, the Royal Enfield of my dreams in the garage, and my wife's extraordinary inspiration backing me up. It is the beautiful union of these three elements that marks the beginning of 'Traveling With Fouji' today. On this blog, you will not just see pictures of mountain roads or waterfalls; instead, you will witness the journey of a soldier touching his dreams.
I hope you will keep both the sacrifices of my wife and son, as well as my two-wheeled companion, wrapped in your love and blessings throughout this journey. Stay tuned, because the story has just begun!
