ক্যাম্পের কঠিন সামরিক শৃঙ্খলা, ভারী বুটের আওয়াজ আর অন-ডিউটি সতর্কতার চেনা গণ্ডি পেরিয়ে যখন গুয়াহাটি সায়েন্স সেন্টারের 'গার্ডেন অফ ফেমে' পা রাখলাম, তখন ফুসফুস ভরে এক অন্যরকম হাওয়া নিলাম। একজন ফৌজি জওয়ানের কাছে বিজ্ঞান মানেই তো রাডার স্ক্রিনের সিগন্যাল, জিপিএস ট্র্যাকিং বা অস্ত্রের মেকানিজম। কিন্তু বিজ্ঞান যখন কেবল ল্যাবরেটরি বা বইয়ের পাতার শুকনো সূত্র না হয়ে প্রকৃতির খোলা হাওয়ায় ছায়ানিবিড় গাছের নিচে এসে দাঁড়ায়, তখন তা আর কঠিন থাকে না—হয়ে ওঠে এক জ্যান্ত গল্প । বিশাল গাছের ছায়ায়, নীল আকাশের নিচে সারি সারি দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা বিজ্ঞানের নানা অলৌকিক অথচ সহজ যন্ত্র গুলোর দিকে তাকিয়ে আমার মনে হলো—আমরা সীমান্তে বা ব্যারাকে প্রতি মুহূর্তের জীবনযুদ্ধে কত জটিল প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করি, অথচ তাদের পেছনের আসল জাদু আর ইতিহাসটা আমাদের অজানাই থেকে যায়। সায়েন্স পার্কের এই খোলা মাঠে এসে দেখলাম, বিজ্ঞানের কঠিন নিয়মগুলোকে কত সহজে চোখের সামনে রূপকথা বানিয়ে রাখা হয়েছে। ১. আরকিমিডিস স্ক্রু :  ( মাধ্যাকর্ষণকে বুড়ো আঙুল দেখানোর গল্প) সামনে এগোতেই চোখে পড়ল একটি বিশাল নীল রঙের জলাধার, আর তার মধ্যে হেলানো অবস্থায় বসা...

 খানাপাড়ার ক্যাম্পে আস্তানা গাড়ার পর থেকেই দিনগুলো এক কঠোর শৃঙ্খলার ছকে বাঁধা পড়ে গিয়েছিল। সকালের প্রথম আলো থেকে শুরু করে তপ্ত দুপুর পর্যন্ত চলত কর্মজীবনের অত্যন্ত জরুরি কিছু অফিশিয়াল ক্লাস আর ট্রেনিং সেশন। নিয়মের সেই চেনা গণ্ডির ভেতর যখন একটানা ক্লাসের ধকল যাচ্ছিল, তখন ভেতরটা চাতক পাখির মতো খুঁজছিল কিছুটা নিস্তব্ধতা, একটুখানি সবুজের কোমল ছোঁয়া। আর ঠিক তখনই জানতে পারলাম, আমাদের ক্যাম্পেরই কোল ঘেঁষে, খানাপাড়ার জহুরনগরে লুকিয়ে আছে এক জ্ঞানের নীরব খনি— আঞ্চলিক বিজ্ঞান কেন্দ্র' (Regional Science Centre, Guwahati)। একদিন  ক্লান্তি জড়ানো পায়ে হেঁটে রওনা হলাম সেই বিজ্ঞান মিউজিয়ামের উদ্দেশ্যে। যান্ত্রিক শহরের চেনা কোলাহল আর হর্নের তীব্র আওয়াজ পেরিয়ে যখন মিউজিয়ামের মূল তোরণ দিয়ে ভেতরে পা রাখলাম, এক লহমায় চারপাশের চঞ্চলতা যেন কর্পূরের মতো উধাও হয়ে গেল। চারদিকে আদিগন্ত সবুজ গাছপালা আর এক অদ্ভুত শান্তিময় পরিবেশ, যা মনের সমস্ত ক্লান্তি নিমেষেই পরম মমতায় ধুয়ে মুছে দিল। হাঁটতে হাঁটতে আমি এসে পৌঁছালাম মিউজিয়ামের বাইরের উন্মুক্ত প্রাঙ্গণে থাকা বিখ্যাত ‘গার্ডেন অফ ফেম’ (Garden of Fame)-এ। নিবিড...
